The Maverick is the cleanest large-room fan Visual Comfort makes. A slim matte black housing only 7" in diameter carries three hand-carved balsa blades in dark walnut, with no light kit and no visible hardware anywhere on it. At a 60" sweep it reads as ceiling architecture rather than as a fixture, and the walnut grain keeps an otherwise minimal profile from feeling cold.
The DC motor moves a serious amount of air — 6,687 CFM on high — while drawing only about 27 watts, a fraction of what a comparable AC fan pulls at the same airflow. That works out to roughly 248 CFM per watt on high and 728 CFM per watt on low, which is why it carries an ENERGY STAR qualification. Six speeds and reverse are handled entirely from the included ESSWC-7 handheld remote; there is no pull chain, and it stays quiet enough for a bedroom on the lower speeds.
Rated for spaces up to roughly 400 square feet — a 20 x 20 foot great room, a large primary bedroom, or an open living and dining area. Because it is damp rated it works just as well on a covered porch, a screened patio or a large bathroom. Best results come with ceilings of nine feet or more, mounted on a downrod.
Note: this model has no integrated light. If you need one, the optional MCFK light kit mounts to it, or the Maverick LED version (3MAVR60D) carries a built-in source. Additional downrod lengths are available separately for taller ceilings.
